ENDLESS POETRY X ANOTHER ROUND
A failed and cantankerous poet, Oscar takes a young student under his wing, recognizing her talent for poetry and an opportunity for recognition. A whimsical portrait of an artist in decline.
A failed and cantankerous poet, Oscar takes a young student under his wing, recognizing her talent for poetry and an opportunity for recognition. A whimsical portrait of an artist in decline.
Already known for his short films, Simón Mesa Soto teams up with Ubeimar Ríos, a philosophy teacher at a Colombian high school, to bring a colorful character to life. Ríos playfully embodies Óscar, a bitter poet whose glory days are long gone, who ekes out a living while desperately hoping to be recognized for his true worth. That day finally seems to arrive when he meets the young Yurlady, a student with great potential, in whom he sees a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of his peers. Shot in Super 16mm for its raw look and awarded at Un Certain Regard in Cannes, the feature film combines biting humor with questions about the place of art and the country's social issues. A sincere and refreshing comedy!
