THE SQUID AND THE WHALE X LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE

When Anna and Magnus, parents of three children, decide to separate, the love and bonds that unite their family are put to the test. A sensitive and dreamlike portrait.

Having stayed together for the sake of their children, Anna, an artist, and Magnus, a fisherman, can no longer live together. A bittersweet dive into the daily life of a family falling apart in the heart of Icelandic nature, but also enjoying the love that remains. The director of Godland (2022) paints an intimate portrait of delicate melancholy, albeit delightfully burlesque and tinged with touches of fantasy when words are no longer enough to express emotions. Capturing both the beauty of Iceland and the vagaries of family life, Hlynur Pálmason gives a pictorial and contemplative dimension to the story of this family unlike any other.
