Recognized for her acting talent since childhood, Kristen Stewart brilliantly takes on her first feature film, adapting Lidia Yuknavitch's moving autobiographical novel, The Mechanics of Fluids (2011). Having fled a toxic family environment tyrannized by an abusive father, Lidia struggles between her addictions and university. When she tries her hand at writing, the young woman discovers a healing way to confront her traumas and her past. Through his experimental direction and Imogen Poots' grandiose and unsettling performance, Stewart seeks to put the unspeakable into images and recounts the reappropriation of the female body through both art and sexuality, with devastating sensitivity.
