RASHŌMON X THE HUNT

Accused of harassment by the mother of one of his students, teacher Seiichi Yabushita defies public opinion and seeks to prove his innocence. A gripping adaptation of a true story.

Legendary director Takashi Miike, as prolific as he is eclectic, takes on a news story that occurred in Japan in 2003, recounted in a book by journalist Masumi Fukuda published in 2007. Young Takuto Himuro claims to have been abused by his teacher, Seiichi Yabushita, which alarms the boy's mother, Ritsuko. Soon, the case is revealed in the tabloid press and causes unprecedented media hype in the country. While everyone points the finger at him, Yabushita insists that it is all slander. Between a relentless quest for truth à la Rashōmon, criticism of the power of the media, and a wave of contradictory emotions, Miike delivers one of his most scathing and masterful works, reinforced by a cast of top-notch actors.
