Betty Bossi: a familiar figure who is now part of the Swiss culinary landscape. You know her name, you may follow her recipes closely, but do you know her story? In 1956, advertising copywriter Emmi Creola-Maag – played by Sarah Spale, who returns to Pierre Monnard after Les Enfants du Platzspitz (2020) – has a stroke of genius: she creates the fictional character of Betty Bossi from scratch. In addition to managing her family and professional life, Emmi has to deal with the success of her creation. While revealing the behind-the-scenes story of an episode little known to the general public, the Fribourg-based director also tackles a theme that is still relevant today: that of a woman fighting for her ideas and abilities in a predominantly male environment.
