In the midst of the Cold War, a man fortifies his house and alienates his entire village, convinced that the enemy is approaching. A haunting story, inspired by true events.
Set against a backdrop of paranoia, when every Swedish citizen received a pamphlet on how to prepare for war, John Skoog's film brings to life an authentic and unsettling figure from that era, played by a haunting Denis Lavant. A simple farm worker, Karl-Göran Persson began collecting a whole host of unused objects. His goal: to build a veritable impregnable fortress out of odds and ends, convinced that a catastrophe would strike sooner or later. However, this unusual construction began to attract the attention of the other villagers. A haunting work in which the protagonist's urgency sadly echoes the turbulent contemporary climate.
