Outside is an enclosed-setting experience where the player shares the apartment of Yuka, a young hikikomori woman. By exploring her everyday objects, they discover her past, anxieties, and fear of the outside world. But as empathy grows, doubt arises: is Yuka only a victim, or also a threat?

Mélanie Courtinat

Mélanie Courtinat (born 1993), an immersive artist born and based in Paris, explores new technologies to create interactive worlds, mainly in virtual reality, a medium she has worked with since 2016. Represented by New Galerie, her work has been shown at the Venice Immersive Biennale, LISTE Art Basel, and the Tokyo Game Show. She teaches at ECAL and the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
