Canonized in 2016, Mother Teresa is undoubtedly one of the most famous religious figures of the 20th century, whose nuance and profound humanity are portrayed by Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska. In 1948 in Calcutta, Mother Teresa hopes to receive authorization from the Vatican to found her own order. However, she learns that the woman she has chosen to succeed her, Sister Agnieszka, is pregnant. Racked with doubt, Mother Teresa is torn between her desire to help others and the prohibition on abortion imposed by her faith. Gracefully and powerfully portrayed by star Noomi Rapace, this complex role highlights the woman behind the saint: rebellious and valiant, ambitious and charitable.
