BORAT X LOST IN LA MANCHA

The zany, grotesque tale of a film crew traveling to South America to make a documentary about new musical fashions... but in the wrong country.

An American film crew travels to the far reaches of the Argentine countryside to film a report on a local musician. Unfortunately, they're not in the right village, or even the right country! With the villagers' help, the crew set out to create a new musical trend they could use in a documentary. This joyfully colorful and offbeat fiasco marks the return of director and actress Amalia Ulman to GIFF, after presenting her previous feature, El Planeta, in 2021. The artist has surrounded herself with well-known faces from American cinema – Chloë Sevigny, Alex Wolff and Simon Rex – to tell the story of an absurdly charming journey with an equally singular visual identity, set to a score by underground musician Burke Battelle, aka Chicken.
