READY PLAYER ONE X LOST IN TRANSLATION

As both abandon themselves to the game Luz, Ren tries to get closer to his stepmother while Wei desperately searches for his daughter. A work about reconciliation through virtual reality.

In her second feature, Flora Lau explores the complexity of family ties, transcending them through the prism of technology. Ren, a gallery owner in Hong Kong, is forced to travel to Paris to look after her mother-in-law Sabine (Isabelle Huppert), whom she hasn't seen in years; in Chongqing, Wei, an ex-convict on the road to redemption, wants to be reunited with his daughter. Both seek to renew their family ties through the prism of Luz, a successful virtual reality game. The Hong Kong director poetically tackles the question of the digital world, like a waking dream as strange as it is bewitching, a kind of bridge between the inner world and reality in which the protagonists wander, find themselves and reconnect. A singular journey between worlds.
