Having already worked on enchanting animated fables, French director Antoine Lanciaux is back to tell us the story of Lucie, a 9-year-old girl who, during her vacation in the small village of Bectoile where her mother Caro works as an archaeologist, ventures from forests to castles to uncover an old family secret. The young daredevil is not alone in her quest, as she can count on her friend Yann and a host of mischievous animals, from her clumsy dog to a baby badger, not to mention two chickadees who seem to be guiding her. To bring this little world to life, Lanciaux has brilliantly used the technique of paper cutouts, a meticulous feat that enhances the charm of this tale that will delight young and old alike.
