How can we understand the story of a life? Through the journey of Sonja, separated from her Surinamese parents in 1943 and placed in a foster family in the Netherlands, Lacuna retraces an entire existence. Fragments of memory, snippets of the past, evidence of a former life cling to the memories of this woman as she tries to recall her early years. A documentary approach that literally immerses us in this heartfelt testimony, where the fate of one woman intersects with the history of a forgotten family.
