120 BATTEMENTS PAR MINUTE X LUCKY LUKE

Texas, during the HIV crisis. An HIV-positive cowboy defies the pharmaceutical authorities by creating an underground network providing access to illegal alternative treatments. A poignant and deeply human drama.

In 1980s Texas, marked by the HIV epidemic, a macho, homophobic cowboy learns that he is HIV-positive and has only a month to live. Faced with the inaction of the authorities and the pharmaceutical industry, he teams up with a transgender woman to launch an underground network providing access to illegal alternative drugs, creating the “Dallas Buyers Club”. Directed by Quebec filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée, renowned for his sensitive style, this film was shot in just 25 days on a limited budget and was a huge critical success. Thanks to its energetic and refined direction, it showcases masterful performances by Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, who both won Oscars. A real wake-up call, the film reignites the debate on access to healthcare for HIV-positive people, establishing itself as a committed, human, and necessary drama.
